Horse trainer John ‘Shark’ Hanlon has been given a 10-month training ban and fined €2,000 by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board.
Hanlon is said to have damaged the “good reputation of horseracing” by transporting a dead racehorse in an open trailer last June with the carcass in public view.
The case was heard by the Referrals Committee last week and the verdict was published by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board this afternoon.
On June 14th, Hanlon allegedly removed a deceased horse from Ballygorteen, Co Kilkenny, to a knackery in Co Carlow, whose carcass was on an open trailer, clearly identified as his property.
