Less people on trolleys in St Luke’s hospital than this time last year

The latest report from the INMO shows that the number of people waiting on trolleys in St Luke’s Hospital for Carlow/Kilkenny in May of this year was down significantly on last year.

The figures begin in May of 2011 when there were just 34 patients waiting, but by 2015 that number had risen to 297.

In May just gone, it had reduced by over 130 people – back to 159.

The INMO is welcoming the fact that the level of overcrowding in Emergency Departments has eased.

However, they’re warning that this positive development will be short-lived if the recruitment pause by the HSE isn’t abandoned immediately.
