A protest march on behalf of local children with special needs is underway in Kilkenny this morning
The aim of the march is to raise awareness over issues facing children in Carlow and Kilkenny like the lack of respite care for children with disabilities and therapy services for children with autism and other needs.
Today’s march is part of the national ”Enough is Enough” campaign.
The protest march set out from the HSE offices at Lacken shortly after 10am this morning travelling to the community Care headquarters at James’ Green.
Meanwhile in response to todays action the HSE in a statement to KCLR news says it acknowledges the frustrations of parents.
It says continued attempts are being made to provide a better and more timely service in Carlow, Kilkenny and surrounding counties.
The statement makes reference to a programme being rolled out by the Health Service called Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young people which will involve a reconfiguration of all HSE and HSE funded childrens disability services with the aim of achieving a national, equitable approach in service provision
