4 out of 5 of our local TDs refused to respond to a question on repealing the 8th amendment according to an article on the Journal dot ie.
The article says every TD in the country was asked whether or not a referendum should be held on the amendment in our constitution which gives equal rights to life for an unborn child as its mother.
They say that just under half – 48% – of all Dáil Deputies responded.
Locally, Kathleen Funchion, John Paul Phelan, John McGuinness and Pat Deering all reportedly refused to give an answer.
Fianna Fáil’s Bobby Aylward was the only one to respond saying that there should not be a referendum on this subject in the lifetime of this government.
