Gardaí in Waterford are seeking witnesses to what they say was a serious hit and run in the city today.
Just before midday a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the junction of The Glen and Ballybricken.
The man aged in his 40s was seriously injured and has been taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
The Glen and Ballybricken roads are closed with local diversions in place while the services of Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested.
Anybody who was in the area between 11am and 12noon and who noticed anything or captured footage is asked to get in touch with any garda station.
