Minister for Disabilities to meet with relatives of those in St Patrick’s Centre

“You can’t close [the facility] down unless there’s a replacement” – so says Kilkenny TD Bobby Aylward speaking about St Patrick’s Centre on the Kells Road.
The Centre for those with intellectual disabilities is due to be wound down completely in 2018.
Earlier this week a mother spoke to KCLR about her 15-year-old autistic son who’s a resident there.
She said she received a letter from the centre’s management saying he will have to leave on September 2nd this year.
Deputy Aylward says he has now spoken to the Minister for Disabilities, Finian McGrath about this case and the future of St Patrick’s in general.
He told KCLR this morning that he will meet with parents when he’s on his visit to Carlow and Kilkenny in the coming weeks.
