3.3 million euro is being pumped into wastewater treatment plants in Kilkenny.
It will see upgrades to Castlecomer, Urlingford and Stoneyford over the next year.
According to Irish Water, treatment at existing plants in these areas doesn’t meet the required environmental standards which is resulting in wastewater that hasn’t been adequately treated, entering into the waters.
The project, which is expected to take 12 months to complete, will serve 1,300 existing households and businesses.
