The long-awaited opening of the Ferrybank Shopping Centre is something the new Chairperson of the Piltown Municipal District hopes will be advanced during his 12 month term.
Kilkenny County Council has submitted affidavits in advance of a Judicial Review which is scheduled to be heard at the High Court next Thursday.
That was sought by counterparts at Waterford City and County Council in appeal to last August’s approval of planning permission for Dunnes Stores.
Cllr Ger Frisby, who picked up a new role at the latest meeting of his electoral area this week, hopes an end to the saga is in sight and told KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes; “We have it as a standing order on our meetings every month, but it hasn’t been there for the last couple of months because there was no point really with the Judicial Review; the Judicial Review now is due on Thursday the 11th so hopefully, once that is done and dusted, hopefully we get the right response on that and, we can put that back on the agenda here and really plough on with getting this shopping centre opened”.
