Close to €3million worth of suspected drugs has been seized at Rosslare Europort.
Revenue officials yesterday discovered about 145kg of what’s believed to be herbal cannabis with 7.9kg cannabis resin as a result of routine profiling when an accompanied freight unit that had disembarked a ferry from Dunkirk, France was stopped and searched.
Helped by Revenue’s mobile x-ray scanner, it was found concealed within the load.
One man aged in his twenties was arrested and detained at a Garda Station in County Wexford while investigations are ongoing.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they’re asked to contact Revenue’s Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295.
