There’s some good news for those on the housing list in Carlow -almost 70 new houses are to be built in the county.
KCLR news revealed last week that a budget of more than 20 million euro had been allocated to Carlow county council for social housing.
Yesterday at a meeting of the local authority members were told 26 new houses would be built at Sleaty Street in the town, 14 in Tullow and 4 in Borris.
24 new social housing units were recently announced for Bagnalstown bringing the total to 68.
There are about 400 people on the waiting list at the moment but Labour Councillor William Quinn says more money could be available this year to tackle the local housing problem.
