A crossroads in the village of Kells, Co. Kilkenny, has sparked considerable debate in recent days on The KCLR Daily.
Yesterday we heard from ‘Bridget’ who claimed she was a resident and was concerned at a new footpath been constructed in the village.
She said it’s being installed on what is already a dangerously narrow road near Shirleys Pub.
She claimed to have observed tractors and trailers trying to navigate the new footpath with great difficulty.

Meanwhile Kilkenny Councillor Joe Sheridan was also on to comment on the claims made by ‘Bridget’. He said “I understand that some people are a little bit upset and they dont like to see change” but claims that another footpath that had been built back a while ago was also met with upset at the time but says that it has worked very well.

While today on the show the Chairman of the Kells Development Group said he found the chat about the footpath controversy as ‘bizzare’.
Seamus Knox spoke to Brian this morning having heard the discussion yesterday, he said, “parents actually raised concerns last week at a schol board of management meeting about the speed of the traffic going past the school, which is coming up from that cross” and said that the works been carried out at the minute was flagged with council officials a number of years ago.
