A new volunteering initiative aimed at improving literacy skills is set to launch in Kilkenny in the coming months.
The Kilkenny County Council Library Service is calling for volunteers to become literacy tutors and provide valuable one-on-one support to individuals facing literacy challenges.
The tutoring sessions will be scheduled at convenient times for both the tutors and learners, offering flexibility to all involved.
Volunteers will be making a significant impact in the community by helping individuals gain essential literacy skills.
Those interested in joining the program are encouraged to register by the application deadline on March 14th at volunteerkilkenny.ie.
County Librarian Josephine Coyne assured potential volunteers that no prior expertise is required to sign up. “We welcome anyone with a willingness to help,” she told KCLR News, emphasising that support and training will be provided to all volunteers.
This initiative offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the community while making a lasting difference in the lives of learners.
