New weather warning in place for Carlow and Kilkenny

Met Éireann has issued two separate weather warnings with another storm on the way.

A status yellow rain warning has been issued for today in Carlow, Kilkenny and surrounding counties with as much as 50 millimetres expected to fall.

While the country is being warned to prepare for dangerous winds with storm Brian expected to hit tomorrow.

Meanwhile the clean-up operation on local roads  is continuing.

From this morning emergency works are taking place to remove several dangerous trees in the townland of Pollagh, Skeoghvosteen in Kilkenny, so that road is closed from 9.30am until 5pm this evening (Thursday).
