Speaking to KCLR Sport after the match, Kilkenny manager Derek Lyng praised his team’s performance, highlighting their strong attitude and hunger throughout the game.

“I just think our attitude was top class today and that was really important. The work rate was excellent and we maintained that for most of the game. There’s a lot of things to be working on but that’s okay, as long as we showed up today that was important”.

Speaking on the three red cards Kilkenny received against Tipperary previously, Derek Lyng acknowledged that both he and the players were disappointed, but praised his panel for stepping up to the mark.

“They didn’t let me down at all, I had to look at it myself as much as the players. It’s a collective and we were all disappointed. I think the most disappointing thing during the week was that it wasn’t a true reflection of those players and everyone involved”.

With the league coming to an end, Kilkenny have their sights firmly set on the Championship, with manager Derek Lyng emphasizing the importance of the upcoming weeks and the need for intense preparation amid a demanding schedule

“We have a huge amount of work to do, it’s a really important four or five weeks. We have a huge match here on April 19th followed up by other games week on week . It’s going to be relentless but we have a panel now and we’ll work them hard in the next month or so”.
