Locals in towns and villages around Kilkenny will soon be able to paint the town red, green or any other colour they wish.

Kilkenny County Council have approved the expansion of the Paint the Towns scheme to include all areas of Kilkenny City East and West.

The scheme which sees the council part fund the painting of shop fronts was piloted in Callan and Graiguenamanagh last year.

Speaking to KCLR News this morning, Graiguenamanagh Councillor Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere says it’s a very helpful initiative for businesses.

The closing date for applications is the 31st of December 2016.
