Pat Deering says Fine Gael likely to have a different leader if another election is called

Fine Gael will most likely not be heading into another election with Enda Kenny as the Taoiseach.

So says Carlow Fine Gael TD, Pat Deering as talks between the two largest parties on the formation of a government are set to resume today.

Political commentators say there’s a 50/50 chance that the country will be heading to the polls in the very near future.

Speaking on KCLR Live this morning, Deputy Deering says he doesn’t think the current Acting-Taoiseach will be leading them into that election.

However, he refused to be drawn on who he sees as Mr Kenny’s most likely successor.
