A long-running dispute affecting Section 39 workers in the community and voluntary sector has been resolved with a new pay deal. Following overnight talks at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) between unions and government representatives, an agreement was reached that includes a 9.25% pay increase over two years.
The deal impacts staff working at various community and voluntary organisations, who have been advocating for better pay and conditions. Labour Councillor Seán Ó Hargáin welcomed the agreement, describing it as a “step in the right direction.”
“This pay deal will provide much-needed relief for Section 39 workers who have been underpaid for too long,” said Councillor Ó Hargáin. “It is a recognition of the vital work that these workers do for our communities.”
