The County Council is reviewing phase two of its speed limit reductions to enhance road safety in the Piltown Municipal District.
As of February 7th, speed limits on all local roads were reduced from 80km/hr to 60km/hr in a bid to reduce road accidents and improve overall traffic safety.
The next phase will involve further reductions, with speed limits on certain villages and roads dropping from 50km/hr to 30km/hr. This is aimed at making roads safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
Speaking to KCLR News, Cllr Pat Dunphy explained that the selection of roads for this next phase will depend on specific criteria.
More updates will follow as the review progresses.
