An EU Commission Spokesperson has confirmed that Phil Hogan has been ill with a viral stomach infection since last Saturday.
KCLR news understands that Mr Hogan is receiving treatment in Hospital.

The full circumstances surrounding his condition are still unknown.
Commissioner Hogan was represented by a spokesperson in Brussels yesterday as news emerged that negotiations are underway for a 500 million euro support package for EU Farmers.
This was proposed by Phil Hogan and confirmed by Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney.
