Picket placed at GMC plants in Carlow and Kilkenny among other areas

The company provides support to Ireland's gas network

Carlow and Kilkenny are among a number of areas being picketed today.

Workers at GMC Civil and Mechanical Engineering,  which provides support to Ireland’s gas network, are on strike at sites in Carlow, Kilkenny, Cork, Limerick and Dublin.

There are 70 staff picketing, up to twenty of them locally – they say they’ve not had a pay increase since 2019.

KCLR News understands that GMC has hit back at claims it ignored a proposed pay agreement and says employees are paid in accordance with or exceeding industry norms with a meeting due to take place at the WRC next week.
