Pilot who died in Waterford plane crash named as a Turkish national

The pilot who died in last week’s plane crash in County Waterford has been named as a Turkish national.

Father of two, Bircan Dokuzlar, who had been working in Germany, was the sole occupant of the aircraft which crashed just outside Tramore on Thursday afternoon last.

It’s understood he was travelling to France before attempting to make an emergency landing at Waterford Airport.

A GoFundMe to support his family has raised over €30,000.
