As Carlow and Kilkenny remain under another status yellow rain warning, local services are pleading with motorists to not drive through flooded spots.
Met Éireann’s latest alert runs in our two counties as well as in Wexford, Waterford and Cork to 3 o’clock this afternoon with a separate notice issued for Wicklow, Dublin and Louth which is in effect until 9pm.
It follows a period of extensive rainfall overnight with land is already waterlogged – difficult driving conditions are expected and Carlow County Fire and Rescue has issued the following;
Difficult travelling conditions are expected, with motorists warned to slow down and expect surface water.
Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather forecasts; “A wet start this morning and continuing wet, especially in parts of east and south, starting in the south the heaviest of the rain and the east and then moving further into the north east as we go through the day, accumulations of over 30mm are possible on high ground in parts of the east and the south”.
