The president was in Thomastown Friday night, and he wasn’t on ‘official’ business

If you were in Murphy’s Bar, in Thomastown on Friday evening you may have recognised a famous face.

KCLR news understands the president of Ireland, Michael D Higgins rolled into town for his sons engagement party.

Pictures of the president have surfaced on social media, as he smiled for photographs with locals.

He spent a number of hours in the pub, before making his way back to the Áras.
