A recount is to begin in Kilkenny city East where just two councillors have been elected so far while a recount of the Castlecomer area,with its 6 councillors, is also due to get underway at 11am.
Just two seats have been filled in Kilkenny city East, with Fianna Fail duo Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere and Andrew Mc Guinnness.
The recount in Kilkenny city east was granted after Labour’s Tommy Prendergast was eliminated -just 5 votes separated him and Fine Gael’s Jimmy Leahy.

6 councillors had been elected on Sunday in Castlecomer but a full recount was granted after it was revealed that just 10 votes separated Fianna Fail’s Michael Mc Carthy & the last candidate eliminated Caitriona Redmond of Sinn Fein.
