A relic of the Patron Saint of Luxembourg is to be given a new permanent home in Carlow Cathedral this year.
St Willibrord studied and was ordained in Carlow back in the 7th century and this year for the first time a delegation from the county will go on a pilgrimage to his basilica in Echternach, Luxembourg.
This year, along with Carlow County Museum hosting an exhibition to the Saint, a group from Echternach will present a piece of his bone to the local pilgrims.
Dermot Mulligan, curator of the museum told KCLR News that this relic will be kept in Carlow Cathedral after first spending time in St Lazerian’s.
