The Dáil will today debate and vote on the revised terms of reference for the so-called ‘Grace’ inquiry.
Concerns had been raised by Opposition parties that the original terms of reference were too narrow and could see other alleged victims in the South East foster home overlooked.
The new plans will see the investigation split in two – one part will deal with the alleged abuse of Grace herself, while the other part will cover dozens of other children who stayed at the same foster home.
The Cabinet agreed to the changes last night.
Deputy John McGuinness told KCLR news this will allow us to find out the true extent of what went on in that home.
A final report on the inquiry is expected to be finished in 12 months time.
Deputy McGuinness says he doesn’t think this broader scope will result in the inquiry taking longer to complete.
