Road closures due to flooding and fallen trees

Diversions are in place in Thomastown this afternoon with the quay closed there due to flooding.

Gardai are asking Heavy Goods Vehicles travelling from Kilkenny to New Ross to go via Waterford today.

Meanwhile the New Ross to Borris Road in Carlow is still closed after 10 trees fell overnight .

Bennetsbridge, Graiguenamanagh, Inistioge, St Mullins & Leighlinbridge are all waterlogged today as river levels rise following heavy rain again overnight.

Carlow Town park has been closed as water levels reach a critical level.

The council says sandbags are at the ready in areas prone to flooding.
