A large team have gathered on the riverbank in Kilkenny this morning as the search resumes for a man believed to have gone into the water near Greensbridge last night.
Gardai, the Civil Defence and the Coastguard helicopter carried out a thorough search of the area last night but failed to locate him.
The alarm was raised at 7.15pm last night and 2 witnesses told Gardai that they had seen a man fall into the River Nore near Greensbridge but had lost sight of him near the Lady Desart bridge where the river is particularly swollen.
The search & rescue team from Kilkenny sub aqua club are joining the search this morning.
Jimmy Lenihan from the Sub aqua club told KCLR news that the conditions are difficult but their divers are trained for low visibility and he expects they will carry out a couple of dives in the area this morning.
