Sentencing due today for man found guilty of murder & robbery of Kilkenny native John Mackey

Sentencing’s due today for the man who murdered a Kilkenny native in London.

87-year-old John Mackey, who was originally from Callan, had been living in the UK for many years but died following an incident last May as he was walking home from a local shop there.

59-year-old Peter Augustine was found guilty of murder and robbery earlier this month, though he’d denied both charges.

He’ll be sentenced at the Old Bailey later.
