A Carlow girl could be a step closer to getting government funding for her cancer treatment.
Shauntelle Tynan is battling a rare form of cancer, Histiocytosis X, and has had to travel to Texas for treatment on a number of occasions.
Her family and friends have long been campaigning for the government to help with some of the costs of this treatment.
And yesterday her mother Leona, says they finally received a letter from Minister Simon Coveney’s Office acknowledging their letters and asking for extra personal details for the HSE to process.
Meanwhile, a go-fund-me page for the Carlow girl has reached over €160,000 of the €500,000 euro target.
