John Cassin has officially taken over the chain of office as Mayor of Carlow this evening.
The Sinn Féin Councillor was formally elected as the successor to John Pender at a meeting which began at 4 o’clock.

His party colleague, Jim Deane has also been elected Deputy Mayor.
Speaking to KCLR, Mayor Cassin says he expects a year of hard work ahead.
