Six people found in a shipping container in the South East

An investigation is underway after six people were found in a shipping container at Rosslare Europort in Wexford.

Five men and a boy were discovered in a distressed state yesterday and taken to hospital, where it’s understood three remain.

Gardaí at Wexford, with the assistance of the Garda National Immigration Bureau, are investigating.

Councillor Ger Carthy, who is also Operations Resource Manager with the National Ambulance Service in Wexford, says it would have been a traumatic experience noting; “In the context it’s very difficult to know how long they were in that shipping container because you know the way over human trafficking they could have been hours, they could have been days before that ship left for the Port of Rosslare”.
