As we head into the Bank Holiday weekend, you’re being reminded to take care on all roads.
Gardaí will be out in large numbers across the country, including in the Kilkenny Carlow Division.
Carlow’s Road Safety Officer John McDarby says too many people have already died on Irish routes in the first half of 2021, telling KCLR News “47 people died on Irish roads from January to the end of May this year and the council joins the Gardaí, the Department of Transport and the Road Safety Authority to call on road users to slow down this weekend, to belt up and to never drink or take drugs and drive”.
He adds “We ask road users to plan their journeys and to check your car, motorcycle or bike is roadworthy, check the tyres, the lights and the engine, watch out for animals, farm machinery, cyclists and pedestrians this weekend and have a safe, long weekend on the road wherever you go”.
