Storm Agnes set to strike Carlow and Kilkenny tomorrow

Winds gusting up to 120km per hour are expected in parts

Carlow and Kilkenny are set to be lashed by bad weather with Storm Agnes expected to make landfall tomorrow (Wednesday).

Both, with 22 other counties, fall under a Status Yellow wind and rain warnings with Met Éireann warning of the potential for flooding and power outages.

The wind warning will affect Leinster and Munster from 7am until midnight tomorrow, with a similar alert for Northern Ireland.

While the rain warning will also come into place during the same hours for eight counties including Carlow and Kilkenny.

Cathal Nolan from the Ireland Weather Channel says the storm will worsen as the day goes on; “And really it’ll impact the southern half and eastern half of the country, particularly strong through Wednesday itself, wind gusts up to 120km per hour in some parts especially coastal areas and with that accompanied by some heavy outbreaks of rain at times as well”.
