Strike action at GMC in Carlow suspended

SIPTU has suspended strike action in Carlow at a company contracted to install, maintain and provide an emergency response on the gas network.

The union had warned of possible disruptions in gas supply this week as its members at GMC Civil and Mechanical Engineering took strike action in a dispute over pay.

It saw pickets placed at locations in Carlow, Cork, Limerick, and Dublin.

However, the union says it has suspended its pickets at GMC Civil and Mechanical Engineering this morning, following an agreement to enter talks at the Workplace Relations Commission.
