Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far but there were no new records set in Carlow and Kilkenny.
The highest temperature registered locally was close to 28 degrees Celsius in Tullow and in Kilkenny.
Although it did hit 30 degrees in other parts of the country.
There were highs of over 30 degrees recorded in parts of Roscommon.
Alan O Reilly from www.carlowweather.com says the mini heatwave is gone for now and we’re back to an ordinary Irish July.
Apparently it’s not just Ireland that’s been experiencing a heatwave.
Last month was the hottest June ever recorded worldwide, and the 14th straight month that global heat records were broken, scientists say.
They are attributing all of this to greenhouse gas emissions.
