Tesco Ireland has confirmed that 350 of its staff have taken up voluntary redundancy.
The job losses are amongst night-time staff, in what the company describes as an effort to improve customer service.
Other staff who currently pack shelves at night will be moved to day time hours.
However, Tesco says other staff will now be given extra hours, with further recruitment expected.
The supermarket giant earlier confirmed that its sales in Ireland dropped by 5-point-5 per-cent over the Christmas period.
