The life of a Polish man who died in a Kilkenny crash last month will be marked locally later today (Tuesday, 14th July).
Damian Wrobel lived and worked in our locality for many years and there was huge shock locally when he was involved in a collision while cycling on the Tullaroan Road on the outskirts of the city in June.
On Sunday a silent cycle in memory of him took place on city streets organised by the Kilkenny Cycling Campaign as part of fundraising efforts to repatriate him to his native western Polish city of Nowa Sol and to help his five-year-old daughter.
A private cremation has taken place and this evening from 5pm, in the presence of his ashes, a Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St John’s Church which can be viewed online here.
He’ll be laid to rest in his native homeland at a later date.
Damian’s family has expressed deep gratitude for all that’s been done by the wider Kilkenny community.
