Three days of road closure on the Carlow Wicklow border take effect from this morning.
It’s on the R747 between Tinahely and Cross Bridge as works take place at Curravanish to replace a failed drainage culvert.
That stretch of route (marked in red on map below) will temporarily close from 7am today until 6pm on Thursday (4th December).
HGVs due in the area are advised to allow extra journey time as the diversion will see them travel south-eastwards to Tinahely is being diverted in Hacketstown to the R727 to the N81 at McGrath Cross/Killmagarvoge Cross, into Tullow and onto Shillelagh on the N25 where they can get back into Tinahely on the R749 and vice versa. Smaller vehicles can travel between Tinahely, Ballinglen, Knockananna and Cross Bridge or between Cross Bridge, Mullinacuffe, Ballyraheen and Tinahely (purple on map).
