Tom O' Neill added to the Fine Gael ticket for local elections

Councillor Tom O’ Neill has now been given the green light to run for Fine Gael in the local elections in May.

He failed to be selected last week at convention for the Carlow/Tullow area but a meeting of the partys executive council last night ruled that he can be added as a candidate.

However there’s no place for Councillors Eileen Brophy or Pat O’ Toole who also missed out on selection.

Both have wished Tom O’ Neill well and Councillor O’ Toole is not ruling out running as an Independent candidate himself in May.

While Eileen Brophy says she will consider her options now.
