A tourist centre in Borris, which could open for two to three days a week during the height of the tourist season, would be a massive step forward for the area, according to a local councillor.
Labour’s Willie Quinn made the suggestion during the January meeting of the Muine Bheag Municipal District, where councillors learned of Carlow County Council’s application for Heritage Council funding, which could provide a €400,000 boost for the village.
Speaking to KCLR News, Cllr Quinn said he believed Borris would benefit from a tourist centre.
“It would be nice to see somewhere where people could, when they visit the town, you know, they could go and get information and stuff like that.” said Councillor Quinn.
“I know that they have the car tours and have the websites and all that, but something, you know, which is only open a couple of days a week in it, at peak times even, it would be great to see it, if we could get the funding to do it, it would be great to do it.” he added.
