Traveller horse project at Wetlands site in Kilkenny won't happen says council

Kilkenny county council says the land needed for a proper Traveller horse project on the Wetlands site outside the city just simply isn’t available.

It follows calls for sufficient supports to help travellers care for their animals at St Catherines halting site after 8 horses were seized and impounded last week.

Plans are in place to develop a site on the Hebron road side of the city.

But John McCormack of Kilkenny county council says the land needed for a project like that at Wetlands just isn’t there.
