Two men have been arrested following a major drug seizure in County Kildare. Gardaí discovered approximately 72 kilos of cocaine, valued at around €5 million euros, during searches of a vehicle and a home in the Allenwood area yesterday afternoon.
The men, aged in their 50s and 60s, are currently being detained at a Garda station in Kildare, where they are being questioned in connection with the find.
Assistance Commissioner of Organised and Serious Crime, Angela Willis, has described the operation as “another significant seizure of cocaine destined for the Irish market.”
The discovery is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime in the region.
