Tullow is the fastest growing town in county carlow experiencing an 18percent population growth between 2011 and 2016.

In Kilkenny the rural-urban divide is almost split 60-40 which is more in keeping with the national trend.

Just over 61 percent of Kilkennys population of 99 thousand 232 people are living in the country while nearly 39 percent are in towns.

The city itself was the fastest growing urban area – the population there grew by 8.6 percent between 2011 and 2016.
