Kilkenny manager Derek Lyng says his side must quickly move on from yesterday’s defeat to Cork and focus on the challenges ahead.
Kilkenny were beaten 3–12 to 1–15 at UPMC Nowlan Park, with Cork taking advantage of a number of goal chances over the course of the game.
Speaking afterwards on the KCLR Hurling Podcast, Lyng admitted there were elements of the performance he was disappointed with, but also pointed to positives in Kilkenny’s defensive effort.
“Just a couple of things we’d be disappointed with. They got a number of goal-scoring opportunities.
I thought our last-ditch defending was excellent and it was a step up again today.
We have to learn from that game now this week. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves — just dust ourselves off again and then get ready for Salthill (Galway) next weekend.”
Kilkenny now turn their attention to their next outing in Pearse Stadium against Galway, where Lyng will be looking for his side to take lessons from the Cork defeat and respond with another improved performance.
