Why you should consider heat pump technology for your home!

With the focus on more sustainable practice continuing to rise across Ireland, now is the time for homeowners to consider what they could be doing in their own home to help lower their carbon footprint and overall impact on the environment.

Conserving energy by turning off appliances that are not in use, using LED lights, and assessing the insulation within your property are great areas to begin looking at, but another important factor to reflect on is the type of heating system you have. Suitable for those building a new home or retrofitting, heat pump technology is an excellent choice that unlocks highly efficient yet environmentally-friendly home heating.

Leading manufacturer of heating technologies Grant provides an insight into why heat pumps are growing to be one of the top choices for Irish homeowners:

Greener home heating

Air source heat pumps, such as the Grant Aerona3, operate using an entirely renewable heat source which can help reduce the level of harmful greenhouse gas emissions being released into the atmosphere.

For those building a new home, the ‘green benefits’ of air source heat pumps prove particularly useful as they can help meet Part L compliance as outlined in building regulations. Continually looking at ways of developing its environmentally-friendly offering, Grant recently launched the Aerona3 12kW R32 model which features a refrigerant with a substantially lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) than other typical heat pump refrigerants.

Intelligent technology

Each model within the Grant Aerona3 air range operates using the basic thermodynamic principles to convert air in the surrounding atmosphere into heat energy that can be used to provide a property with both heating and hot water. The heat pumps also incorporate a number of clever features which can help homeowners create savings on their annual fuel bills and save more money in the long run.

The performance of heat pumps such as the Grant Aerona3 is often referred to as the seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) which is calculated by dividing the annual heating demand by the annual energy consumed. Reflecting this, the A++ Grant Aerona3 air source heat pumps can deliver over four times the amount of energy for every 1kW of electricity used depending on the flow temperature and climate conditions at the time.

Giving homeowners added peace of mind, models within the Grant Aerona3 range will modulate up or down depending on climate conditions and demand on the heating system, ensuring the property is as energy efficient as possible throughout every season.

Excellent choice

Air source heat pumps available on the market today usually come in a variety of outputs, helping homeowners to select the best model based on the size of their home.

Grant’s Aerona3 range is now available in four models with outputs of 6kW, 10kW, 12kW and 16kW following the recent introduction of the Aerona3 12kW R32 model.

Grant’s Technical team provides a free of charge heat loss calculation service which can be availed of by emailing project plans to [email protected]. By having the ability to closely match your heat pump to the outputs required to effectively heat your home, you can ensure that you are selecting the most cost-effective method that provides better long-term savings.

Grant’s full range of innovative heating products are available from plumbing and heating merchants throughout Ireland.
