Investigations are underway following an axe-attack on a woman in County Kildare and the discovery of a man’s body in a nearby reservoir.
Emergency services were called to a house in Oaklawn West in Leixlip where a fire had to be extinguished.
A woman aged in her fifties was initially treated at the scene before she was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of injuries described as serious.
The body of a man, also aged in his fifties, was later recovered from the Leixlip Reservoir by the Garda Water Unit.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed either incident to contact them – they’re also keen to hear from those who were in the areas of Oaklawn West, the N4 and the Leixlip Reservoir between 5:30am and 8am who might have some form of footage to make that available to them.
