The work starts today on a major project in Kilkenny that will provide the infrastructure for hundreds of new homes on the outskirts of the city.
The contracts were signed for the Western Environs in February and today work gets underway in earnest on the project which will see a stretch of new road built to link the Callan and Circular roads.
500 new homes are set to be built in that area in the next few years while the CBS, VEC and Coláiste Pobal Osraí are also getting new school buildings.
Traffic lights will be in operation at the junction of the Kilmanagh Road and the Circular Road for the next 10 months.
