The man who died in yesterday evening’s collision outside Paulstown has been named locally as Ger Brennan.
Mr Brennan was in his 60s and from Royal Oak near Bagenalstown.
The crash occurred around 4 o’clock and involved just one car which is believed to have collided with a parked van on the road between Bagenalstown and Paulstown.
Mr Brennan was the only person in the vehicle.
The road was closed yesterday evening for a forensic examination but has now been cleared and reopened.
Bagenalstown Gardaí are still appealing for anyone who may have been driving on that stretch of road at the time to contact them.
