Carlow has one of the highest figures for vacant properties in the country.
That’s according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.
The normal rate of vacant houses per county is about 5%, however by the end of last year Carlow’s was up at 15%.
Fianna Fáil’s Seanad Spokesperson on Housing is Jennifer Murnane O’Connor.
She told KCLR News it’s often very difficult to find out who owns these houses and they’re not ones that can be included in the Housing Repair scheme either.
